Brushes and Brooms

There are dozens upon dozens of different types of Brooms and Brushes to help sweep and clear up, here are some examples:

  • Besom Broom ~ the "Witches Broom" often made of Hazel is surprisingly effective at sweeping up dry leaves.
  • Churn Brush ~ traditionally used for scrubbing out Milk Churns.
  • Drain Rod Brush ~ as the name implies this is used primarily for drains.
  • Gulley Brush ~ a round Brush to help clear out gulleys and rills.
  • Mop Heads ~ good for "wet cleaning" of floors (not carpets).
  • Scraper : curved or straight is usually used for moving "sludge".
  • Yard Broom ~ wider than normal in order to cover a great area in one sweep.

Another consideration is to choose what type of bristle will suit the job in hand, here are some examples:

  • Bassine ~ medium stiff for rough surfaces.
  • Coco ~ soft for smooth dry surfaces.
  • Gumati ~ medium soft for dry concrete.
  • Polypropylene ~ medium stiff for wet of dry rough surfaces.
